Diagnostics
Effective immediately, summer eczema diagnostics will no longer be conducted by Evax but by the University of Zurich.
The Evax laboratory team has developed a method to determine whether a horse has sweet itch by means of molecular biology analysis of skin biopsies. In an affected horse, certain genes are more active than in healthy horses. This gene activity is measured by gene quantification through qPCR and interpreted by our experts.
By using the latest methods, a small biopsy is sufficient for us, which is why no wound closure is necessary. Nevertheless, we recommend local anesthesia.
