  • Studied human biology at the University of Zurich and graduated with a Master of Science degree in 2008. She then started directly with a doctorate in immunology at ETH Zurich and graduated in 2011

  • During her doctorate, she worked part-time at the Clinical Trials Center Zurich and completed internships at the Swiss Institute for Allergy and Asthma (SIAF) and the Swiss Tropical Institute (TPH)

  • Certificate of Advanced Studies in Clinical Trial Management

  • After completing her doctorate, she worked as a scientist at Vifor Pharma and Saiba GmbH.

  • In addition to her work at Evax, she works as a group leader at the University of Zurich / University Hospital Zurich in the field of immunology

  • She started riding at the age of 5 and got to know Icelandic horses at the age of 12 and remains loyal to them to this day. Her family has since owned Icelandic horses, all of which were / are imports from Iceland and were / are affected by sweet itch

We are a spin-off company of the University of Zurich, transferring human standards of care into horses. Our research team develops therapeutic vaccines to treat chronic diseases, allergies and respiratory diseases. Our vision is to address diseases in horses with modern research to contribute to the growing knowledge in the pharmaceutical industry.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan, perform and analyse analytical biochemistry assays
  • Perform in-vivo, cell culture experiments and assays involving biological specimen such as blood and biopsies
  • Perform mAb/conjugate purification and protein purification independently (manual or FPLC ÄKTA)
  • Validation and characterization of RNA, proteins, antibodies
  • Using varied molecular biology techniques including DNA and RNA purification, construct design, PCR, molecular cloning and qPCR
  • Preparation and immunohistological staining of tissue
  • Write reports in collaboration with colleagues and/or supervisor
  • Evaluate and analyse data by using different software programs (e.g. GraphPad PRISM)
  • Support management and infrastructure of the lab

 

Requirements
  • MSc or equivalent education in life science (molecular biology/biochemistry) with diploma from a “Fachhochschule” or University.
  • Proficiency in all general molecular biology (handling of DNA, RNA, protein, bacteria; RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, cloning) and cell biology techniques (cell lines and primary cell culture, cell counting and stimulation).
  • Working experience in a biological laboratory, preferably in antibody and protein characterization and purification and ligand binding assays (e.g. SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA).
  • Experience with complex immunological assays is preferred.
  • Experience with Flow cytometry staining and analysis is preferred.
  • Design and perform high-quality experiments independently and efficiently, deliver in time and accurately interpret data and demonstrating expertise in downstream processing.
  • Consolidate, report data and present in context as needed.
  • Read scientific publications and apply concepts and methods practically.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Planning and organizing skills.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written), German is an asset.
  • Strong team player, proactive and scientifically curious.
